Anyone Else Trying to Transform Their Life, Or Am I the Only One?
A life transformation is not an easy task to pull off but it is possible. It takes self-awareness and being in tune with your feelings, desires, and values. It requires honesty. Being honest about your own character and flaws is a prerequisite to making effective changes to your life. You must admit that the way you have been living and the things you have done to survive no longer serves you.
Whether the change you are ready to make is in your professional life or personal life, you need to incorporate these 4 principles to achieve the best outcome and the greatest results. Once you adopt these four principles, you'll be more in touch with what matters to you. You will become more aware of what you can do; you will have guidelines to live by, and you will honor your personal values.
The 4 Principles Are…
1. Do not downplay your achievements. Appreciate your success.
Don’t be so quick to criticize yourself. Eliminate the negative self-talk. When you achieve success in your life don’t write it off as no big deal. Every win in your life is a big deal and should be used as a blueprint for future success.
When you downplay your achievements and abilities you slowly deplete your self-confidence. Without self-confidence, you lack the motivation to take on bigger challenges and you become stagnant in a life of mediocrity.
So, celebrate your accomplishments and challenge yourself to strive for more in life. Use your talents to propel you towards the life you want.
2. Turn Losses into Lessons.
Reflect on your past to discover what worked and what did not work, this is where you will find the lessons you need to learn. You know yourself better than anyone else. Trust is your ability to do what is best for your well-being. It is important to learn from your wins and your losses! Think about the things that have worked out favorably for you in the past and incorporate that success into your future. Then review your mistakes and disappointments to use as a guide of what not to do again. That’s why it’s so important to count your wins. When you are starting something new, you are starting from experience and not from scratch.
3. Stop telling yourself what you cannot do. Shift your limiting beliefs.
Get rid of the negative beliefs you have about your chances for success. Until you do you will forever live in a small box that limits what's possible. Your perceptions of reality guide your actions. If you believe you cannot do something because you don’t have the proper skills, then you won’t be able to do it. But if you decide to acquire the necessary skills to do that thing, you will succeed at it.
Stop living as if these limiting beliefs are true, most of the time they are lies that you have told yourself and are not based on facts.
To achieve a personal transformation, create a new belief that clearly states the new reality you want to create. Make sure the statement is positive, in the present tense.
4. Make it Make Sense. Live By your values.
There should be no difference between your behavior and the values you promote. Doing so does not make sense. When you do not live by your values, you suffer. Life begins to get complicated. You experience less joy and more stress because you are going against what is natural for you.
For example, if you value your health and you find yourself eating excessive junk food instead of fruits and vegetables, your health will begin to suffer, right? Well, the same applies to other values you might have. Learn to make adjustments immediately when you become aware of what you're doing that's not aligned with your personal values.
